World’s First PV-Integrated Inflatable Membrane Structure Marks One Year of Operation! How Do the “Inflatable Dome + Blue Blanket” Support Industry Green Standards

At the Changzhou Port Lu’anzhou Wharf in early spring, four giant “inflatable domes” clad in photovoltaic “blue blankets” stand tall against the river wind. As whistles pierce the sky, this world’s first photovoltaic inflatable membrane project celebrates its first anniversary with impressive results: nearly 12 million kWh of clean energy generated annually, a reduction of 9,700 tons of carbon emissions, and a 50% green electricity self-sufficiency rate, demonstrating a breakthrough path for the green transformation of industrial ports.

From environmental enclosure and dust control to green power coverage and energy-saving low-carbon operations, the distributed photovoltaic inflatable membrane project at Jiangsu Changzhou Port Lu’anzhou Wharf—jointly developed by ZC Space and China Huaneng Group—has been operating stably for over a year, earning consistent praise from the owner. It has not only set a benchmark for ecological protection, low-carbon development, and new energy technology industrialization in the Yangtze River Basin but has also become a model for green transformation of ports and terminals in the industrial sector.

Multi-Dimensional Data Validate Technological Value

The Lu’anzhou PV inflatable membrane project achieves a closed-loop clean energy system of “generation for self-use, surplus power fed into the grid” through the deep integration of flexible PV components and inflatable membrane structure. Over the past year, it has generated nearly 12 million kWh of electricity, enough to meet the annual power needs of 3,000 households. Revenue from surplus electricity fed into the grid and self-consumption has reached nearly RMB 6 million.

In terms of environmental benefits, its annual carbon reduction is equivalent to planting trees over an area of 20,000 square meters. More comprehensive pollutant control data show that the project also reduces sulfur dioxide emissions by nearly 12 tons per year. Additionally, the application of inflatable membrane enclosure technology has effectively controlled dust diffusion and water pollution. These results demonstrate that PV inflatable membranes not only provide technical support for green port construction and the “dual-carbon” strategy but also set an example in comprehensive industrial pollution management, opening a new path for the synergistic development of clean energy and ecological governance.

National Recognition Escorts a Low-Carbon Future

The project adopts ZC Space’s pioneering integrated application technology of new energy PV inflatable membranes. With core breakthroughs such as lightweight flexible components, coordinated deformation load-bearing, and an intelligent lightning protection system, it has overcome key technical challenges such as the heavy weight of traditional PV components and the impact of membrane deformation on components.

It has been awarded the “Scientific and Technological Achievement Registration Certificate” by the National Industrial Information Security Development Research Center, recognized as “Internationally Advanced,” received the Innovation Application Award from the Industrial Development and Promotion Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and was included in the “National Catalog of Low-Carbon Technologies for Promotion (Fifth Batch)” by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, becoming a national strategic-level low-carbon solution.

Diversified Applications Support the “Dual-Carbon” Strategy

PV inflatable membrane technology can be widely used in industrial storage, cultural and sports venues, smart logistics, environmental treatment, and other fields, demonstrating particular advantages in the environmental enclosure of high-energy-consumption industries and the construction of zero-carbon ports. ZC Space has already undertaken multiple PV inflatable membrane projects that are now operational, building a comprehensive technical system of “inflatable structure + PV power generation + intelligent operation and maintenance,” providing a replicable and scalable technical path toward the carbon peak and carbon neutrality era.

Starting from the Lu’anzhou Wharf, PV inflatable membrane technology is branching out into diverse applications. The 2025 Government Work Report proposed measures to “collaboratively promote carbon reduction, pollution control, green expansion, and growth, accelerate the comprehensive green transformation of economic and social development,” “strengthen pollution prevention and ecological construction,” “accelerate the development of a green low-carbon economy,” and “proactively and steadily advance carbon peak and carbon neutrality.” These initiatives further solidify ZC Space’s determination to support high-quality green and low-carbon development.

Taking the Changzhou Port Lu’anzhou PV Inflatable Membrane Storage Project as a model, ZC Space will closely follow national policies, continue to deepen the iteration of PV inflatable membrane technology, expand application scenarios, and fully accelerate green transformation in the industry, providing referential practical examples for accelerating green transition and building zero-carbon parks and zero-carbon factories.
